From fire protection engineer to honky-tonk headliner, Robby Myers steps into the spotlight with his debut single, “Habit of Honky Tonkin’.”
Robby Myers isn’t your typical Nashville hopeful. By day, he’s a licensed fire protection engineer with a mechanical engineering degree. By night — and weekends — he’s a honky-tonk enthusiast, guitar slinger, and songwriter with a story to tell.
After years of writing sessions, open mics, and NSAI pitch meetings, Myers is making his debut with “Habit of Honky Tonkin’.” It’s the first official release from a growing collection of demos, all created while balancing a full-time career and family life.
“I’ve got a career and a family, and that comes first. I'm grateful for the support I get from these songs — I'd just like one of them to connect with the right artist or team.” — Robby Myers
Myers joined the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) several years ago, spending countless hours in pitch sessions where top publishers review material from rising writers. So far, about 20 publishers have taken copies of his songs, and he’s landed on NSAI’s “In Honor of Bob Kingsley” Top 40 list more than once.
“Habit of Honky Tonkin’” captures the grit and charm of the honky-tonk lifestyle — twangy, heartfelt, and just a little rough around the edges. It’s both a personal statement and a nod to the dive-bar country roots that shaped him.
“I don’t need ten meetings. Just give me one — one publisher who’ll listen to five or six of my songs and pitch them for a year.” — Robby Myers
Until that meeting comes, Myers plans to keep writing, releasing, and playing — one song at a time, one honky-tonk habit at a time.
