NASHVILLE, Tenn. (August 21, 2025) — Country Music royalty filled The Pinnacle in Nashville Wednesday night as legendary artist Randy Travis was honored with the prestigious ACM Milestone Award at the 18th Annual ACM Honors. The award celebrates an artist whose achievements have left an indelible mark on the genre—and Travis’ legacy needs no introduction.

As the audience rose to their feet, Jamey Johnson delivered a soul-stirring rendition of Travis’ classic “Three Wooden Crosses,” paving the way for a deeply emotional moment as Randy, joined by his wife Mary Travis, accepted the award.

“Between your birthstone and your headstone, it’s the milestones along the way that matter the most,” Mary said, echoing the heartfelt lyric from “Three Wooden Crosses.” She added, “Randy never thought his music would have the impact it has had, or that he would be standing here decades later surrounded by so many that shaped him and gave him a place to belong.”

In his signature humble fashion, Randy closed with a simple but powerful: “Thank you, a lot.”

A Legacy that Redefined Country Music

The Academy of Country Music cited Travis for his pivotal role in launching the New Traditionalist Movement, reshaping the sonic landscape of country music in the late 1980s and influencing artists from Clint Black to Chris Stapleton.

Beyond his groundbreaking sound, Travis’ story is one of resilience. After a life-altering stroke in 2013, he has become an advocate for stroke awareness and healthcare rights, while continuing to push creative boundaries. Recently, Travis embraced technology, using AI-assisted vocals to reimagine and revive unreleased recordings, ensuring the preservation of a voice that defined an era.

Past Milestone Award recipients include industry giants such as Garth Brooks, Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, Taylor Swift, and Morgan Wallen—cementing Travis’ place among the greats.
