Exile Celebrates 62 Years with Emmy®-Winning Documentary and New Anniversary Album

NASHVILLE, TN – (July 22, 2025) – The Emmy®, one of television’s highest honors, has recognized Exile: 60 Years of Music, a powerful documentary chronicling the six-decade journey of iconic country rock band Exile. Produced by KET (The Kentucky Network), the film explores the band's enduring legacy through triumphs and challenges, musical highs and lows, and an unwavering commitment to authenticity and creativity. Featuring rare photos, vintage home movies, and seldom-seen concert footage, the Emmy-winning documentary highlights the remarkable career of Kentucky Music Hall of Fame inductees Exile and its original members: Sonny LeMaire, JP Pennington, Marlon Hargis, Steve Goetzman, and Les Taylor.

“In our 62nd year together, we’ve lived out dreams we never imagined,” shared Exile. “From memorable TV appearances on The Midnight Special, Solid Gold, and The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, to now being the subject of an Emmy-winning documentary, it’s been an incredible ride. We’re grateful to KET and director Tom Thurman for honoring our journey and celebrating our Kentucky roots.”

Director Tom Thurman added, “Covering 60 years of Exile’s story was a challenge, but these guys are not only talented musicians — they’re survivors and gifted storytellers. That combination made this project a filmmaker’s dream.”

Their 1978 smash “Kiss You All Over” spent four weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100. In the 1980s, they transitioned to country, scoring 10 No. 1 hits including “Give Me One More Chance” and “Woke Up In Love.” The band’s music has also been featured in films like Happy Gilmore and Employee of the Month, and they've written hits for Alabama, Diamond Rio, and Restless Heart. The five original members reunited in 2008 and continue to tour and release new music.
